Abstract The pollution of antidepressant drugs can lead to their excess residues in aquatic products, which poses a threat to food hygiene and safety. In this study, quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChERS) purification combined with high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) was used to determine the residues of eight antidepressants, including citalopram, venexaxine, paroxetine, fluoxetine, amitriptiline, tremipramine, sertraline and clomipramine, in common aquatic products such as fish, shrimp, crab and shellfish. The results showed that the linearity of the calibration curves for the eight antidepressants was good in the range of 0.1–5.0 μg/L with correlation coefficients greater than 0.999, the detection limits were 0.04–0.06 μg/kg, and the recoveries of spiked samples were 80.0%–110.0% with relative standard deviation (RSD) of 0.23%–5.50%. This method is simple and rapid and is characterized by low interference, good linearity, and high precision and accuracy.
