Abstract Abstract：Mechanisms of intestinal iron absorption and development course of iron fortifiers were discussed in this review. Current knowledge of efficiency and safety of different iron fortifiers was also summarized in this article. Iron fortifiers originated from protein is a new research interest for its efficiency and safety.
